*yawn*

DEEEEP BREATH...three different places of employment + full load at school + training for a marathon (okay just a half...stop fucking laughing) + still trying to keep an active social life = no time for this blog shit. Gonna try harder. But with all the shows coming up its gonna be hard, thanks to...

BOOYAH! IGIF posted a bit about iConcertCalendar, a freeware feature for iTunes that magically generates a (duh) calendar of when any of the artists in your iTunes are stopping by your town. Give it a whirl, it's amazing. Get this shit right here.

Tired, eating Vietnamese take-out (not pho unfortunately), listening to Lily Allen and I'm wondering if she's any good at Guitar Hero. I bet that'd be a fun date.

just having a digital camera doesn't make you a photographer.
just having thrift store gear doesn't make you a fashion plate.
just pretending your parents aren't loaded doesn't make you humble.
just because you can have up to 300 pictures doesn't mean you even need 30.
just professing your love for red wine doesn't make you a drunk.
just writing shitty regurgitated lines doesn't make you a poet.
just downloading a few botch songs doesn't make you a fan.
just knowing who jean-michel basquiat is doesn't mean you know art.
and just because you put it on the internet doesn't mean anybody gives a shit.

i'm not an artist. neither are you. so say we all.

automatic.

Duh. Not like I could afford to go (saving up for one of these), but what a line-up. Bjork, JMC, Arcade Fire, Spank Rock, Against Me!, Ratatat, Silversun Pickups, Lily 'FUCKING' Allen...boy it'd be a do one...although didn't I swear off outdoor festivals? Tickets on sale Saturday. You should buy me one. I am a great festival partner, my man-bag is Prada and will hold all your crap.

On another note, I'm all warm inside after a long day at school. I have a delicious sangwich in front of me, Melo's back, and the new Of Montreal is playing. Life is pretty good.

2006 Bands.

So my goal of 100 shows was exceeded by 25...depending on what you want to count. If Pitchfork, Lollapalooza, and ACL all count as one on their own, instead of individual by day, then the count is really 120. Which is fine.

Obviously my two favorite local bands are easily the Photo Atlas and Signal to Noise, having seen both of them a whopping 7 times a piece...Atlas almost took the lead but I missed their show on Dec.30th...it would've been very apropos to close the year out at the Marquis with them, but unfortunately the last show I saw this year was in a sketchy warehouse on Santa Fe in the freezing cold where everyone was on mushrooms. It was Achille Lauro, and they had visuals and everything, and this one dude told me that if I went up front and sat "indian-style" I could really get the feel of the whole thing. I huddled in the 'kitchen' (I use that term very loosely) with Naomi and Kat and sipped from a fifth of Beam. Seeing the last show with them was nice though, since we were Team Denver in the Windy Shitty this summer. I am not going to be as compulsive and gnarly this year: instead of going to two or three shows a night (multiple times) I am just gonna pick one and soak it in. And if the first three monthes of `07 is an indication of the live acts that are going to be passing through, it is gonna be a hell of a year for your ears. Here is every band I saw last year, in alphabetical order and a few are annotated with the number of times I saw them.

Deep breath...

iPhone!

Duh. It's only the coolest fucking thing ever! Gonna have to start saving now though, the price tag is pretty hefty: $499 for the 4GB version and $599 for the 8GB. Go here and watch all Apple's little demos of the different features (coolest one has gotta be the voicemail that's set up like email...you can pick and choose which you want to hear from your phone). Yahoo's tech blog has lots of good info, too. And of course Gizmodo has shit too. Nerd away!

back from break

Had to take a break from the internet. Brain melting. So now we're back and we're firstly gonna talk about football.

So this is kind of mean. But hilarious. Fuck the Cowboys but you gotta feel bad for Romo.

Who the fuck is this dude who made this? Weirdo. But if you notice he's a Gator fan!

For my dad, mom, brother, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, brothers of friends, etc who went to the University of Florida, my hats off to you and your team! Although things are looking grim for Florida sports (at least Miami....I mean come on! Riley, Coker, Girardi, and that traitor Nick Saban!), it's nice to know our brothers up north are holding it down. In the words of my intoxicated brother tonight, "Fuck the Big 10! They can eat a dick!". Notice that Harris is reppin' the 305 under his eyes.

Jim Mora is hilarious.

All tirades are hilarious.
