Things To Do In Denver

GOOD NEWS! ELECTRIC SIX HAS CONFIRMED TWO DENVER DATES ON THEIR OCTOBER TOUR!
October 20th+21st at the Larimer Lounge. This is gonna fucking rule. Also SOILWORK is coming to the Gothic with Darkest Hour in October as well. So that's metal. Bro.

On another note, I saw the mighty 3oh3! at the Marquis this past Sunday....holy fuck. These kids are amazing. It's like G-Unit but with suburban white kids in polyester suits. I gotta choke chain for my pit bull mainge. I believe they are playing the Grace Gale homecoming show, Saturday June 17th at the Marquis. And after that show there is an afterparty hosted by the Mayt Mayhem. Should be fucking amazing.

Lots of good show the past month or so, and even more in June.

Wednesday May 31- YEAR FUTURE, THIS BLUSH, PRETTY THIGH @Monkey Mania

Thursday June 1st- ANDY FUCKING THOMAS, SCOTT SWARERS @Illegal Petes LoDoh

Thursday June 1st- THINK ABOUT LIFE, BORN IN THE FLOOD @the Hi-Dive. Get on the BITF train now, cos that shit is leaving the station...and with a record possibly produced by Andrew 'Sleazy V' Vastola, you got pure gold on your hands.

Saturday June 3rd- VOXTROT, DARIO ROSA, TEAM AWESOME! @the Hi-dive. Just so you know Voxtrot is the shit, they're playing the Pitchfork Music Fest opening night party alongside the Joggers, Aziz Ansari, and Eugene Mirman. Duh.

Saturday June 3rd- AMERICAN RELAY BBQ @the Larimer. If you haven't seen this band yet, you're an idiot. Show starts at 1pm.

Tuesday, June 6th- EAGLES OF DEATH METAL @the Bluebird. This will sell out, and that will make Scott sad.

Wednesday June 7th- PELICAN, MONO, RUSSIAN CIRCLES @the Marquis (with afterparty hosted by MAYT MAYHEM)

Thursday June 8th- VAUX, THE PHOTO ATLAS, SCHOOLYARD HEROES, ESPRIT DE CORPS @the Marquis

Friday June 9th- DRAG THE RIVER CD RELEASE! @the Larimer. GHOST BUFFALO, TRUCKEE BROS, COBRA KAI as well. Drag the River's new album is 11 songs, then the 12th track is the whole record over again. Brilliant. Livers to the ready.

Friday June 9th- DANIELSON, WOVEN HAND, THE WHEEL @the Hi-dive

100 shows

So my whole thing is to go to a hundred shows this year, but I may well have to up the ante. It rounds out to be about 2 shows a week, but given that I work at a venue (the Marquis) and that Pete's actually gets interesting shows (Pena/the Photo Atlas/Ghost Buffalo) I may easily bypass the hundred mark. Plus the three festivals, Pitchfork, Lollapalooza, and ACL. I pretty much am gonna see every band you'd want to see this year (except for probably Sufjan Stevens- but I've made my mind up that if he tours again I will travel to see him). Here's a record of where I'm at as of May 24th. These are just the bands I actually saw, not the entire show lineup.

(W denotes a show I worked)
(P denotes a show I played- yeah I'm counting those cos there is only one)

At the end of the year I'll do a whole roundup type deal. I need to hit 50 by end of June, but that shouldn't be too hard. I'm at 39 now, but in the next week we have four shows, Horns, Facing New York, Frog Eyes, and I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness. Should be fun.

TOP THREE SONGS I LISTEN TO WHEN I'M WORKING OUT
Editors- Munich
TV on the Radio- Wolf Like Me
Buck 65- Roses and Bluejays

obsession (si es amor)

I spent all morning scouring the interweb for live Sufjan shit. I can't believe he's only been through Denver once. Based on his little attitude in the recent Pitchfork interview, we might not be seeing him in this incarnation anytime soon...unless we go to Sasquatch next weekend in the middle of Nowhere, Washington.

Here's the link to the EarFarm site, which has Soofs' July 30th, 2005 show at the Bluebird in its entirety.

what the fuck.

why am i awake?

you could answer that question with yet another question: why the fuck was my upstairs neighbor vacuuming and running the washing machine at 8:15 AM?
